Beneath the boughs, beyond the worlds

Lore of Aldalonde

The brotherhood’s shared places and ideals, the stories of its chapters, and a reading path into the kindred’s fiction.

This page concerns fictional settings and member storytelling. Different game worlds keep their own names, histories, and rules; they have not been combined into a single invented canon.

A Ranger’s Brotherhood

The original identity casts the Guard as protectors who stand between wilderness and civilization. Their work can pass unnoticed, yet they defend people without requiring gratitude.

Rangers and Druids form the heart of the brotherhood, united by devotion to Braialla. The identity welcomes different peoples onto that shared path and rejects the pursuit of power over others.

This is the founding Shadowbane setting. The later general oath uses Milaia instead; the two names have not been silently merged. The separately credited Wolfpack Studios overview and narration remain in the original archive rather than being reproduced here.

Milaia and the duty to protect

In Vaecoria’s pantheon, Milaia is the Mother of Life: the aspect of arising, nurturance and progression. The Aldacron’s code begins with love for her, then turns that devotion into duties: defend the natural order, protect people with or without their gratitude, and draw strength from kinship.

This is why the Guard’s forest is more than a backdrop. Life is something to tend and defend. Balance gives the sword its purpose; care for others gives the shield its meaning.

The founding Shadowbane identity above names Braialla. These sources keep their own settings and names.

Aldalonde · Treehaven

In the early goals article, the Turning has brought dangers that can no longer be met only from the shadows. The Guard intends to build and sustain Aldalonde as a refuge.

The city is imagined as shelter for those who need it. Its purpose is protection rather than conquest, maintaining the force necessary to defend its people without joining the ambitions of rival cities.

That distinction gives Treehaven its meaning: a place made safe by the brotherhood, not simply a stronghold bearing its name.

The Aldarem · Between worlds

The guild’s shared fiction describes the Aldarem as tree-portals connecting life across worlds. They explain how one brotherhood can travel into different games while carrying the idea of Aldalonde with it.

For the community’s real-world move to a multi-game structure, see the separate historical chronology.

Vaecoria: somewhere to return to

The Aldacron names Vaecoria as the Guard’s shared home, a member-created world with its own peoples, gods and magic. Near the heart of Aldalonde, the Tree Portals connect it to other worlds through a network of life.

The portals give a fictional shape to a real need: a character can enter a new game without losing every connection that came before. The Guard can travel, remember, and still belong somewhere.

Five seeds after the fall

In the Aldacron’s Shadowbane story, Petrus Aduro returns to a ruined Aldalonde. Beneath the charred Tree of Life, he discovers five surviving seeds. The survivors’ grief becomes a resolve to rebuild; their renewed oaths turn that resolve into responsibility.

The image gives the Guard’s name its weight. Sundered does not mean finished. Something can be carried out of the ruins, cared for, and made to live again.

How the old story finds new words

The supplied expansion writings return to the surviving seeds in the Seed Rite, the ash markings of the Hunter’s Mark, and the shared storytelling of the Ember Vigil. Their Ember Oath gathers those images into a short vow of memory, renewal and endurance.

Seed Rite

A planted seed becomes a vow that the Guard can survive another age.

Hunter’s Mark

Ash marks connect the warrior to Aldalonde and those who were lost.

Ember Vigil

Stories shared beside an overnight fire give grief a communal voice.

These are additions in the Feral expansion documents. They deepen an older story; the supplied material does not establish when, or whether, the guild adopted them as shared practice.

The Sundered Guard of Agon

Darkfall’s backstory joins two formerly opposed peoples: the mahirim Sundered Claw and the mirdain, human, and dwarven Heartland Guard.

  1. The Sundered Claw emerges from a divided Gray Claw tribe.
  2. Exiled mirdain return toward the Heartlands; the Mercian Sun trading outpost is built nearby.
  3. After plague and raids, residents establish the Heartland Guard. Their woodland home becomes Aldalonde.
  4. Priests and shamans receive related visions of a spreading shadow. Cooperation is proposed, but old hostility holds.
  5. The Pall of Synochus overruns their homelands. The displaced groups unite as The Sundered Guard.

The narrative is attributed to Voronwe Eldalom and Ashka. Its negative-year chronology belongs to Agon; it is not a second real-world founding date.

A home in the Goss system

The Star Citizen chapter places the Guard among former UEE soldiers and pilots seeking a less regimented life. Its members gather in Goss while following different professions: patrols, trade, escort work, bounty hunting, and sometimes less lawful business.

The Church of the Journey becomes a spiritual influence for many in the story. The common thread is a shared home and fellowship, rather than a single mission of wealth or punishment.

This is chapter fiction from the public organization profile. It does not establish present-day fleet activity, membership, or recruitment.

Tales from the kindred

The early Story Archive grouped fiction by its authors. These personal stories are presented as member writing, not automatically as shared guild canon.

What remains missing
